There’s a good reason. And it’s something that far too many self-help books leave out. While individuals rush to gobble up all of this seemingly good advice, they never really get the result they’re after, why?

Based on Anthony Francis’s 20 plus years of business experience, Think It Plan It Do It Now! shows you why miracle checklists or goals with no planning simply don’t work — in this book Anthony shows you a clear path to creating, planning and reaching your desired goals.

We all have dreams and aspirations. THINK IT, PLAN IT, DO IT NOW! is all about taking us on a journey of learning. By applying some key principles, we can strive to achieve the goals that we set for ourselves, and ultimately answer the question: “How can I turn my ideas into plans, and then take action to achieve them?”

Chapter 1 - The Commitment Statement
“Life doesn’t change by chance, but by the changes we make in life”.

It is by no coincidence that the chapter that starts this book is about commitment. In this chapter, you will understand that without having the commitment to achieve something, you will never have the courage to put your great ideas or plans into action.

Let’s just think about that for a moment, without commitment you will never have the courage of your convictions to see anything through. So, the question is, how committed are you to achieving what you want?

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been amazed at the achievement of Lewis Pugh. For those of you that don’t know who Lewis Pugh is, he’s an English endurance swimmer, an environmental campaigner and UN Patron of the Oceans.

On the 4th of July 2018, he decided to raise awareness of the threat to the UK’s coastal waters from climate change, over-fishing and plastic pollution, by undertaking a swim from Land’s End in Cornwall, to Dover in Kent, a distance of about 560km (348 miles).

He completed the swim after a remarkable 49 days, during which the 48- year-old had to make do with up to four hours of sleep a day as he swam between 6 and 12 miles every 24 hours.

By all accounts, you have to say that what Lewis Pugh achieved was remarkable. However, it got me thinking as I was writing this chapter on commitment, Lewis’ story got me thinking: just what sort of commitment statement would Lewis Pugh have written down or read, that would have created the mindset for him to see through on such a physically demanding challenge?

Commitment or committing to something and seeing it through is not as easy as it sounds. Let me ask you for example, how many times have you said you were going to do something one day, but then the next not follow through? The classic time for this, of course, is the 31st December when we all state our new year resolutions. You know the ones, I’m going to start going to the gym, give up smoking, get a new job. Only for a few days later to find out that nothing has changed.

What makes us resolved to get something done one minute, but then not finding the commitment to see it through the next? From a purely personal point of view, if I had no commitment when writing this book, then you wouldn’t be reading it now.

So, what is it that makes a starter finisher? Let’s look at some of the things that can help you with your commitment to see things through.

I really loved this book! It’s such an easy read and helps you keep track of your goals. As well as helping you pinpoint what your key goals are and how to stay focused on them. A big bonus for me with this book is that it’s easy to read a section, then work on the topic, and then go back to the book to read the next section. Rather than reading a full book and then not knowing where to begin with your goals. This book really helps you along the journey.

My next goal : Book in business coaching with Anthony Francis!
